Bennettisms

There a few things that Bennett lovers should know about how absolutely adorable he is. First, he has a fascination with hats. So far he has loved Houston's baseball caps, a football helmet, a santa hat, his home depot hard hat, and basically anything else he can put on his head...including my headbands...sorry Houston. You might also like to know that B would be adorable with glasses. He looks a little bit like the little boy in Jerry McGuire don't you think? Lastly, Bennett had his first experience with Mexican restaurant cheese dip today. He is already a big fan!

Christmas at the Zoo

This post is out of order because it actually happened before any of the other Christmas parties, but it was so cool that I had to include it. Houston's big family Christmas, or "Big Ezell" Christmas as we like to call it, was at the Nashville Zoo this year. It was great idea! Before the party started the kids were invited to go into the elephant and giraffe barn. They are such amazing animals! It was a really fun experience for the kids and adults. The giraffe closest to us was a male and VERY friendly. He especially loved Isaac, as you can see in the picture of the little boy with the nervous look on his face! He would just lower his head over his stall right down to us! It was almost like he was looking us in the eye. Bennett has a CD we listen to in the car called "Giraffes Can't Dance." The story is about a giraffe named Gerald so I'm affectionately calling the giraffe in the pictures Gerald, too. So, after visiting the animals we started the Christmas party. Grandaddy and Linda did the planning, and it turned out to be a great party! Houston won a huge stuffed Cheetah as a door prize! Lots of people dressed up in Safari clothes. There was face painting, masks for the kids, and animals with their handlers for us to meet and pet. Not your typicial Christmas party, but I really hope we get to do it again next year!

Christmas in Bells

The last stop on our Christmas tour was visiting grandmother in Bells. I was really excited about this visit because I hadn't seen some of my family in awhile. A highlight of visiting grandmother is the delicious food. We were not disappointed. The food and company were great! Bennett was the youngest one there and loved being the center of attention. He is becoming quite the entertainer and loves showing off.

Christmas at Home

Christmas morning was pretty special for us, but probably not that exciting for anyone else. We set out B's presents from Santa the night before. I didn't know if he would notice them or not, but he most certainly did! He sat right down on the his new riding toy and then ripped into his dump truck. He was climbing all over his new chair that mom got him. He is such a precious little boy. Just watching his happy face was the best present I could ask for. Houston wanted new clothes so I gave him some shirts for work. He gave me lots of stuff including shirts, headphones, a bracelet and earrings. We were all very happy.

Christmas in Oak Hill

I only got one picture of the Burton/Ezell party at Ryan and Melissa's house, but it's cute enough to stand alone. We actually got all the cousins sitting down AND looking at the camera! At this particular party B got someone's drink and spilled it all over himself. He was soaked!

Christmas in Kingston Springs

So, Christmas Eve night we went to Uncle Randy and Aunt Linda's house. I was especially excited this year because Nana was able to be there with us! It is always amazing to me how many presents we can get in one room at their house! As usual, there was tons of good stuff. Bennett got a tricycle from mom that I am very excited about! She gave Houston a Wii which has definitely changed things around our house. I think Houston is actually playing Madden football right now in the living room. Micah got an entire Alabama football uniform. It didn't take long for Tuscaloosa to warp the Dixon brains! Anyway, B liked wearing the helmet around even though it was really big for his head. I pray that he never becomes an Alabama fan himself because it would probably give Houston a heart attack. We had a fun night and are so thankful to have such a wonderful family.

Last Day at Mother's Day Out

It was only a few months ago that B started Mother's day out, but since I decided to go back to school I had to find an actual preschool. At Crieve Hall he can only go 2 days a week, and we needed 4 days. Anyway, Monday was his last day. I was pretty sad. His teachers there were wonderful. I will miss them a lot. Fortunately, I'm also really happy with the new school. I think B will love being with other kids 4 days a week. Here are some pics from that day. I hate that I didn't take any of his class, but I think his teacher is going to send me some.

Goodbye Old Faithful

This week we said goodbye to the Honda (sigh). Houston put it on Craigslist and it was sold a few days later. It was a bittersweet moment for me. That car has had a pretty impressive run. It has been with me 4 1/2 years longer than my husband after all....haha. On the other hand, it's nice to have a change. It was really Houston's car now and I know he is ready for something bigger. He should be getting a new one sometime this week.

Blue Pajamas

I have been a terrible blogger the last few weeks. I forgot to even take any pictures on Thanksgiving. Don't hate me. It's been a busy few weeks. I've been getting everything set to go back to school in January. I'm doing nursing school at Belmont. It's something I've wanted to do for awhile, but I've had a really tough time finding a good school for B. Thankfully Tara helped me find a school that I really like in Green Hills. It's convenient to Belmont and I actually know Bennett's teacher from my Lipscomb days. Houston has also decided to change jobs this week. His company was bought by a bigger agency so he felt that this was the right time to make a change. We're really happy about his new job, but it's been a bit stressful, especially for Houston. So anyway, I took these pictures last night. B was hoarding his graham crackers. He had 3 in his mouth and a few in each hand. He kept making funny faces like he was thinking "don't even think about trying to get one of these away from me." I love how much his personality is coming out! If you ask him to get his shoes he can go get them out of the basket and bring them to you. Then he'll back up into your lap and lift up his foot. He has also learned to stuff his clean diapers into the diaper champ. It's a little bit annoying to keep picking up the diapers, but I love that he's made the connection. My last bit of news is that B is getting 2 more teeth. He already had his front 8 and now he's getting two more on the top. What do you call these two teeth? They're the ones past the pointer teeth. Someone fill me in. Enough rambling....

Leaves Are Falling

These are just a few pictures we took of B recently. He's changing quickly so I try to get my camera out on a regular basis. I love that he was smiling so big for us, but I somehow missed the big buggie in his nose. Oh well. The holidays are right around the corner so I should have some more interesting pictures to post soon.

B Goes to Disney

We have been pretty busy these last few weeks so I haven't posted as much as I usually do. This past week we headed to Disney World with the Ezell family. We have been looking forward to this trip for almost a year, and we had so much fun! I couldn't believe how crowded it was in November! The weather was almost perfect although it was a little chilly for swimming and water rides. Bennett did really well. He wasn't scared of the characters and he never cried on a ride, even when it was really dark. He did get a bit grumpy since he wasn't getting as much sleep as he does at home. Our one terrible moment was on the plane ride home. He only had a 45 minute nap that day so he was really tired. Overall, we had tons of fun and made lots of memories.
