So, I have been totally neglecting the blog since last Wednesday when Olivia made her grand entrance into the world. The main reason for this is not having two hands most of the time when I sit down at the computer. My time on the internet mostly involves what I can manage while holding Olivia in one arm.
Last Tuesday I had my 39 week checkup and was dilated to 3cm. That night I was pretty miserable because contractions kept me from falling asleep most of the night. The next morning I went to see Dr. Staggs again. I'm not exactly patient in the last few weeks of pregnancy and I was just sure I must be in labor. Dr. Staggs made my day when he told me he thought it was time and that I could go on to the hospital if I was ready...which I absolutely was. At Baptist I was having contractions at 6-7 minutes apart, but the weren't really helping me make much progress so I had my water broken and some medicine to get the serious contractions coming. We got the the hospital around 11am. About 5:30 I was still only dilated to 6cm, but when the nurse checked again at 6:15 I was at 9cm. At 6:30 she came in to tell me she was leaving, but wanted to check me one more time. By then Olivia was ready and it was time to push so she was pretty much forced to stick it out with me. She was born just 15 minutes later. She weighed 7lbs 10oz and was 21 inches long. The first thing that came into my head when I saw her was how much she looked like Bennett, but she really is changing so much every day. Now she just looks like her sweet little self. I feel so blessed to have such a little angel to hold all day long!
