On our drive up we took a scenic route because our GPS told us it would be faster. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Apparently this road is used by Bikers in nice weather and is one sharp curve after the next. We escaped without me getting too terribly car sick, but it was an adventure for sure. I could make out the skyline just enough to know that were were very high up and that was a creepy feeling in the dark.
So anyway, our cabin was a cute little one bedroom with a big deck. We got settled in early so we could get up the next morning for Houston to go fly fishing. Apparently this area is known for outdoor activities, especially rafting and fly fishing. Houston had a guide with him and they spent the day in the great outdoors while I spent the day doing absolutely nothing. It was great!
Later that night we make our way to Harrah's Casino because they apparently had some of the nicest restaurants in the area. It was an interesting drive through Cherokee territory. The casino was beautiful but it was crazy how it was just out in the middle of nowhere.
The next morning we drove over to Asheville for the day. We had lunch at a hotel near the Biltmore and then toured around for awhile. Even in February it is an impressive place to visit. It reminded us our last trip to the Biltmore together back when were were in College and just dating. Houston was my date to our formal my senior year. That was a fun trip and it was great just to be in that place again and experience those memories.
Our trip was lovely and a great way to enjoy a February anniversary. Next year I'm thinking somewhere tropical!!
Bennett still loves trains so I took this shot for him.
Houston's Rainbow trout in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
We did a lot of driving and there were some incredible views of the park!
Then of course we had these crazies to welcome us home! Kids are the best!
